How to Throw the Best Galentine’s Day Party
If you’re like me, and love the NBC classic Parks and Rec, then surely you’ve heard of “Galentine’s Day”. If not, it takes place on Feb 13th when you and your girlfriends all get together, leaving partners at home, to celebrate all your awesome gal pals. To quote Leslie Knope, “It's like Lilith Fair, minus the angst.”. Here’s a few tips to throw a great Galentine’s Day party:
- Breakfast. Since you likely can’t go visit JJ’s Diner to pick up some waffles, consider a waffle themed party at home. Since waffles are Lesie Knope’s favorite food, it seems like the most obvious choice. You could prepare waffles and then have your girlfriends decorate them with some Sweetums labeled bottles. Don’t forget to set up a mimosa bar, spread some confetti, and order a custom banner from Party At Your Door. If you don’t feel like hosting at home, consider brunch at a favorite local restaurant.
- Volunteer. If there is one thing that Leslie Knope loves doing, it’s giving back to her community, so maybe consider organizing a volunteer event with your friends. You could clean up one of your local parks, volunteer at a women’s shelter, or organize a drive to collect items needed by a local nonprofit.
- Gifts. Arrange a gift exchange at your Galentine’s Day party. You could swap an ovaries before brovaries bracelet, get matching waffle tattoos, or treat yo’ selves with a day at the spa. You could also just sit around sharing what you appreciate about each other over mimosas.
Before celebrating Valentine’s Day this year, consider throwing a Galentine’s Day party the day before. No matter how you choose to celebrate, as long as you’re with your favorite ladies, you’re doing it right.
